Call for Submissions - Wedded Bliss: 50 Years of "I Do"

Wedded Bliss: 50 Years of I Do (working title) is an anthology that will feature black marriages that have lasted 50 or more years. Statistically the black family unit is diminishing with over 70% of black children born to single women and 43% of black women never marrying.

50 Years of I Do is a side of our story that is seldom told or seen in the media - true successful black marriages DO exist and stand the test of time.

If you or someone you know has been married 50 or more years we are seeking true life, inspiring stories about marriages that have lasted half a century or more for an anthology presently in the works.

- Submissions should include married couple’s full name and wedding date.

- Share what 50 years of togetherness involves/ involved, including some of the highs and lows that come with marriage and how you overcame a low period.

- Advice for others including newlyweds, married couples, and singles should also be included.

- Photographs at a later date (copies acceptable) of the couple will also be required to give the story more of a personal feel.

Submissions should be between 1500-2000 words. Submissions may be edited. A Release form is required for all accepted submissions and a signed statement that the submission is an original work and TRUE.

Submissions should be posted in the body of the email and not sent as an attachment.

At this time Compensation is copies of book and $20.00 upon publication. This project is in the beginning stage and may take some time.
